Happy Hollow Campground

The Happy Hollow Campground is a great spot just north of Goderich that has plenty of ways for you to get back to the great outdoors. If you want to bring along a tent and pitch it for a few days, traditional tent campsites are available.

However, for people who want to try something a little more modernized, this is where you come to RV as well. The camping ground is fully equipped to handle the electrical and sewage needs of RVs, and if you’ve ever been curious to see what RV camping is like, they even offer trailer rentals too.

The facilities come complete with bathrooms, showers, a recreational building, swimming pool, outdoor theatre, and if you absolutely can’t live without it, a Wi-Fi connection.

Kitchigami Family Campground

If you’re looking for a place that’s right on the water and peaceful, then the Kitchigami Family Campground might be for you. This Goderich campground is more for RVs and seasonal visitors, but tenting is permitted as well and caters to an older crowd. The rules favour more quiet, orderly campers, and they treat their regulars well.

Falls Reserve Conservation Area

Most people will be choosing to camp near the lake, but what about a river just east of Goderich? The Falls Reserve Conservation Area is for campers who want to be surrounded by forests and river. With 230 acres of forest and access to the Maitland River, this Goderich, Ontario camping spot has small beautiful waterfalls and is suitable for swimming and fishing for salmon and rainbow trout.

The camp is open to RVs, trailers, and people who want to pitch tents, with both overnight and seasonal options available. Special events, playgrounds, and horseshoe pits are available if you don’t feel like hiking. The conservation area also has firewood available.

For people who want to immerse themselves in nature while in Goderich, Ontario camping, you can enjoy one of seven special, radio-free, secluded tent-only sites.

Auburn Riverside Retreat

This spot is also located along the Maitland River. Auburn Riverside Retreat is another popular campground that focuses a little less on nature and a bit more on accessible, friendly, family activities.

Overnight camping is available here, along with RV and trailer options, both powered and unpowered. But if you’d rather rent a cottage, you can do that too! These campgrounds near Goderich are very family friendly, including options to rent boats.

Point Farms Provincial Park

If you want to be on or near Lake Huron, this is the best way to do it. Point Farms Provincial Park is a big chunk of nature that stretches to the shore of Lake Huron. Within this provincial park are facilities for RVs, trailers, tents, and the usual facilities like toilets. There’s also are Wi-Fi access points for those who need it.

However, the real star of the show here is the park itself. There are plenty of hiking activities, and this is one of the few places where, depending on the time of year, small game hunting is permitted. So, if you’ve ever wanted to go on the hunt with your family, this is the place to do it. And of course, you can swim in the lake or take in nature and wildlife.

Shelter Valley Campground

Shelter Valley Campground is a 45-acre park located alongside the Maitland River. Fireworks, ice cream socials, BBQs and treasure hunts are some of the regular events held at this family-friendly hot spot. If teeing up is more your thing, the campground has a 4-star 18-hole golf course.

Appealing to the very young as well as the young at heart, Shelter Valley Campground is open from May 10 to October 19. If you’re interested in staying a bit longer, the campground offers trailers for sale. Its cabins are also very reasonably priced.
